Ultimately, given the countless advantages and characteristics of PWAs, is it possible to make a direct comparison with traditional applications? Who would win between the two? Before doing so, it is important to remember that, despite everything, native apps are still widely downloaded currently. Given how things are evolving, however, it is inevitable that over time we will see a slow but gradual decline . The motivation is not difficult to understand and is found in all the characteristics of PWAs which, unfortunately, do not belong to traditional applications.1- The first big difference, which cannot go unnoticed, is that traditional apps are designed only for a specific operating system .
It's no coincidence that apps designed for Mac are virtually Special Data unusable on Windows. PWAs , on the other hand, are multi-platform and can be used, in a single version, with any type of browser or operating system .2- Another limitation of traditional apps compared to PWAs which represents the second big difference between the two types is the need for downloads for use . In fact, it is practically impossible to use a traditional app without having downloaded it. However, this limit does not exist for Progressive Web Apps.3- If we want to compare PWAs with traditional apps in terms of efficiency , a disarming picture emerges. The former, in fact, seem victorious across the board with at least 4 strong points, namely on-demand operation , guaranteed continuous accessibility , non-occupation of space within the devices' memory, and lower data consumption.4.

PWAs are significantly cheaper than traditional applications. This is because the time taken to build and update them is much less than that needed for a native app. The matter is even more noteworthy if we consider that the development of a PWA is equivalent to the creation of three different native apps (ios, windows, android) to which must be added that of a responsive site.5- Traditional applications cannot count on Google indexing which, however, is possible for PWAs which in this way become much easier to promote and guarantee levels of visibility well beyond the average of a classic traditional application.
